Degree in Veterinary Medicine (1996) and PhD (2001, European mention Doctor) by the University of Murcia thanks to her research on the effect of oviductal cells on vitro fertilization in pigs. She has developed research activities at the University of York (UK), Federal Research Institute for Animal Health (Mariensee, Germany), University of Tennessee (USA), Autonomous University of Mexico State (Mexico), University of Okayama (Japan), and the National Institute of Agronomique Research (INRA-Tours, France). More than fifteen years of experience teaching at graduate and postgraduate levels.

Her main research interest is focused on the cortical reaction and other mechanisms controlling polyspermy; and the physiological environment surrounding gametes and embryos during fertilization and early embryo development. Scopus author ID 6602499696.
